LanDclub Demonstration System - Show

Part of the Consume Project: www.consume.net

There is a set of equipment for public demonstration purposes.
It consists of:

  • A multimedia P300 desktop computer with an RG-1000, a video capture card and a camcorder
  • A multimedia P120 desktop computer with ISA converter, ORiNOCO card, parallel port webcam and demo data files

Unfortunately these are not as mobile as laptops.

    The wireless transmission demonstration shows:

  • Web browsing
  • Remote program download and run
  • MP3 music playing
  • WAV sound playing
  • MIDI music playing
  • AVI video playing
  • Flash animation playing
  • RealMedia (RM) video playing (L&D local content)
  • Webcam
  • Video-conferencing (with dual picture, sound, chat, whiteboard, file transfer, sharing)

The demo can run from 15 minutes to 2 hours or more depending on what people want to see and is suitable for about six people (three at each end).

Consume groups in the UK are welcome to have a demonstration.

If any other groups / individuals have any other good demonstrations, they could be added to the list and a better demo could evolve.

    Conditions

The demo requires indoor facilities for two desktop computers (e.g. two power points, desks, chairs) at a distance from one another yet within radio-card range (e.g. up to about 50 Metres) and preferably within line-of-sight of each other.

Note that I will claim petrol/travel expenses if you are a long way away from LU4 0DD (near M1 Junction 11).
