20 Mar 01 Report on Meeting at Luton Lives 28a Chapel Street Discussed with Shohir Mintu. Luton Lives is a three-year demonstration project funded by the Home Office to develop new and innovative ways to encourage and promote volunteering. It is managed by/via Luton Borough Council. I Described what LanDclub is and how network operates. They have a cyber-suite and offer fre internet training for local groups. Last year they ran a one-month radio station called Diverse 107.7 fm. They plan to repeat this again this year. In this context they were interested to hear about L&D Hospital Radio and potential feed into the net. Mintu thought that LanDclub would be in a better position to establish a network with local support if it was properly constituted. He offered some help in how to go about this (which I may well take up, if the members agree). I think there could be many ways we could give their volunteers experience that may be useful to them.
